Dental Implants

Dental implants are a proven method of restoring lost teeth. Each implant is like a new tooth root that can hold a custom-made crown. Several implants together can even hold a set of dentures.

At Dr. Thompson’s office, we’re experienced in placing custom-made crowns or other appliances on your implants. We can walk you through the process here and make sure you understand it all.

What Is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a titanium root that is placed in your jawbone during surgery. It will eventually bond to your jaw and become a permanent part of your mouth, able to hold several types of restorations securely. Imagine being able to chew and smile naturally again!

Dental implants and restorations can also protect your teeth and health. They can prevent your remaining teeth from moving into the gap left by a lost tooth or prevent an exposed socket from developing an infection that can spread throughout your body.

How Do You Get Dental Implants?

You’ll go through a few major steps during the implant process, which usually goes like this:

Consultation: We’ll examine your dental condition and discuss whether or not implants could restore your missing tooth or teeth.

Implant Surgery: Your dental surgeon will place a titanium implant (or multiple implants) in your jawbone. If necessary, you can get a temporary crown or other restoration to help you chew while you wait for your permanent restoration.

Recovery: After surgery, you’ll spend a number of months allowing your jawbone to naturally bond with your implant until it becomes a solid base for your restoration(s).

Restoration Placement: We’ll bring you back to Dr. Ben’s office to get your customized crown, dentures, or bridge placed. We’ll make sure that the color and alignment is just right and that your restored smile looks great!

Dental implants are a remarkable leap forward for patients with missing teeth. Implants have a great success rate. You should be confident that they’ll restore your tooth or teeth and make your smile beautiful again!
